Olly Lingerie
Sustainable and sexy underwear, but also comfortable and made in Europe. Olly imagines and designs ethical and eco-friendly lingerie without destroying our planet.
The brand uses organic cotton that is labeled GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards). This label guarantees that the cotton is grown without GMOs, without pesticides and is not bleached with chlorine. The GOTS label also ensures good working conditions to workers who harvest the cotton.
At Olly, recycled lace is used and is made from recycled fiber yarn. The company that weaves this yarn recovers its own production scraps which would usually have gone to the trash to be destroyed and grinds them by a mechanical process (and not chemical, always with a view to polluting as little as possible). With this new material a thread can be reconstituted, which then allows to make the lace. In addition to limiting waste, this yarn saves 90% of water and 80% of electricity.
For their pretty bodysuits, Olly uses Tencel, a soft, breathable and above all ecological material! The cellulose used to produce Tencel fibers comes from sustainably managed forests classified as FSC and PEFC. The wood pulp is dissolved in a 99.7% of non-toxic, recoverable and reusable solvent. It is also a European fiber, since 50% of the forests and factories involved in the production of Tencel are located in Austria.
Requiring little of water and a small surface of area, Tencel produces 10 times more material than conventional cotton per cultivated hectare and it takes less than 1000 liters of water to produce 1kg of Tencel compared to 5000 liters for conventional cotton.
For their swimsuits, they are using Seaqual! A very innovative material produced from plastic waste.
How it works ? Seaqual collaborates with fishermen and associations that collect waste of all kinds from the beach, the seabed or along the rivers. After sorting, Seaqual recovers the plastic waste which is cleaned and mechanically crushed to create a new recycled yarn. This marine plastic waste is mixed with post-consumer plastic waste from conventional recycling channels: namely the bottle of water that you put in the yellow bin. Once this marine and land waste is reduced to small shards, it is transformed into yarn. This processing operation is carried out in Spain.
At Olly, they favor a European anchorage in order to support local know-how
and limit their transport-related carbon footprint. Thus all the lace and tulle, staples, straps and sliders come from Europe (France, Italy, Austria, Germany) and their panties are made in Hungary.
To offer you the least polluting packaging possible, they have imagined a plastic-free packaging in recycled cardboard from eco-managed forests, made in France and printed with vegetable inks. And the icing on the cake, it is reversible and can be transformed into a pretty storage box. To not overload your package with useless gadgets, inside your package, you will simply find your lingerie wrapped in tissue paper, accompanied by a tiny recycled cardboard card and that's it.
Olly is a 100% independent brand owned by Mathilde and Clémentine. No major shareholders behind Olly, only two friends determined to make things happen
on their scale.
